From Dreams to Leadership: My Professional Journey.
My name is Satyendra Srivastava. My roots are in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, although I was born and brought up in Durgapur, West Bengal. My father worked at Durgapur Steel Plant, which provided me with a stable and disciplined environment during my formative years. All my early education was completed in Durgapur.
I completed my Class XII from St. Michael’s School and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Burdwan. After graduation, I moved to Kolkata (then Calcutta) to pursue a Post Graduate Diploma in Sales from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. This decision marked the beginning of my professional journey and laid the foundation for my future career in sales and business development.
I started my professional career as a Management Trainee with Century Extrusions Ltd., a manufacturer of aluminium extruded profiles used in window frames, door frames, false ceilings, partitions, and various industrial applications. Coming from a relatively small-town background, I had limited exposure to the corporate world. However, I possessed a strong willingness to learn and never hesitated to take on new responsibilities. I embraced every opportunity that came my way, regardless of the challenges involved.
After spending two years with Century Extrusions, I joined Singer India Ltd. as a Shop Manager. In this role, I independently managed the entire retail operations of a company-owned showroom dealing in sewing machines, home appliances, and consumer durables. This experience helped me develop strong customer relationship, retail management, and team leadership skills.
Seeking greater opportunities and professional growth, I moved to Delhi. Initially, I worked with a Direct Sales Associate (DSA) of Standard Chartered Bank, where I was involved in selling personal loans, current accounts, and savings accounts. This role enhanced my understanding of financial products and sharpened my sales capabilities.
Soon thereafter, I joined Hitkari Industries Ltd., a manufacturer of packaging materials used for edible oil, milk, and dairy product packaging. This was the turning point in my career, as it marked my entry into the packaging industry. During my seven-year tenure, I gained in-depth knowledge of packaging materials, converting technologies, manufacturing processes, and customer requirements. The experience helped me build a strong technical and commercial foundation in the packaging sector.
My next career move was to YKK India Pvt. Ltd., the Indian subsidiary of the globally renowned Japanese zipper manufacturer. During my six years with YKK, I gained valuable exposure to the garment and apparel industry, learning the importance of quality, precision, customer service, and Japanese business practices.
Thereafter, I joined Uflex Ltd. in Noida, one of India’s leading packaging companies. This phase further strengthened my expertise in flexible packaging and opened doors to larger opportunities. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with several respected organizations, including Brilliant Polymers, Siegwerk India, Supreme Industries, Chemline India, Osho Industries Ltd., Wellprint Inks, Jupiter Laminators, and AMS Polymers Ltd.
Through these diverse experiences, I developed expertise across multiple segments of the packaging value chain, including polymers, inks, adhesives, laminates, coatings, and flexible packaging solutions. My career has provided me with exposure to both domestic and international markets, enabling me to understand diverse customer needs, business cultures, and market dynamics.
Looking back, my journey from a small-town upbringing to leadership roles in multiple industries has been shaped by perseverance, adaptability, continuous learning, and a strong work ethic. Every organization I worked with contributed to my growth, and every challenge became an opportunity to learn and evolve.
Today, I take pride not only in the positions I have held but also in the relationships I have built, the teams I have led, and the value I have created throughout my professional journey. My story stands as a reminder that with determination, hard work, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities, one can continuously grow and succeed regardless of where one starts in life.
