House of Mithila Launches Women-Led Makhana Processing Unit in Saharsa
‘Naivedyum’ Brand Aims to Empower Rural Women and Take Mithila Makhana to Global Markets
Saharsa, Bihar: House of Mithila has inaugurated its state-of-the-art makhana processing unit in Saharsa under its premium brand ‘Naivedyum’, marking a significant step towards women-led rural entrepreneurship and value addition in Bihar’s iconic makhana industry.
The production unit has been established with a clear vision: every stage of processing and packaging will be carried out by local women, creating sustainable employment opportunities while promoting financial independence and skill development among rural women.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Amit Thakur, Founder of House of Mithila, said:
“Women are the backbone of every rural economy. By entrusting them with the complete processing operations of our makhana unit, we are not just producing a premium product—we are creating dignified livelihoods, strengthening families, and building a model of inclusive rural development. Our vision is to transform local resources into global opportunities while ensuring that the benefits reach the farming community and women at the grassroots.”
The initiative follows the philosophy of ‘Local to Global’, ensuring farmers receive better value for their produce while creating employment within the villages instead of forcing migration to cities.
Under the Naivedyum brand, premium-quality makhana products will be processed, packaged, and marketed across India and international markets with strict quality standards.
The project is expected to generate direct employment for rural women while creating indirect livelihood opportunities for farmers, transporters, packaging suppliers, and local entrepreneurs.
House of Mithila also expressed gratitude to the farming community whose support and participation have made the initiative possible.
The organization believes that empowering women economically is one of the most effective ways to accelerate rural development and strengthen the agricultural economy of Mithila.
