From Freelancing to Building Zevarna: How Two Young Entrepreneurs Turned Years of Failure into a Fast-Growing jewellery Gifting Brand

When people see a successful brand, they notice the milestones – sales, customer reviews, and marketplace recognition. What they rarely see are the years of uncertainty, failed ideas, financial pressure, and relentless learning behind those achievements.

The story of Zevarna didn’t begin with jewellery.

It began with two friends – Shashi and Ajay – who simply refused to stop building.

Like many first-generation entrepreneurs, they didn’t inherit a business or have a proven roadmap. They only had curiosity, determination, and the belief that consistent learning would eventually lead them to the right opportunity.

Their entrepreneurial journey started with website development, serving clients across India and overseas through freelance platforms. Every project strengthened their technical skills and understanding of business, but freelancing was never the destination.

Determined to build something of their own, they explored digital marketing, experimented with YouTube content creation, and spent countless hours studying successful online businesses. Every new idea seemed promising, yet none delivered the breakthrough they were searching for.

One of those ideas became PrintWag, a startup launched with great enthusiasm and even greater expectations.

Despite months of hard work, it failed to gain momentum.

For many entrepreneurs, repeated failures become reasons to quit.

For Shashi and Ajay, they became reasons to learn.

Instead of treating those ventures as wasted effort, they viewed them as research. They learned how customers make decisions, why branding creates trust, how marketplaces work, and why solving a genuine customer problem matters far more than simply launching another product.

Those lessons eventually led them to an industry they had never planned to enter – jewellery.

More importantly, they discovered the growing demand for thoughtful gifting.

While researching online marketplaces, they realised that customers weren’t just buying accessories; they were celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, festivals, weddings, and life’s special moments. Yet many affordable gifting products lacked premium presentation and a memorable unboxing experience.

That insight became the foundation of Zevarna.

The vision wasn’t to become another jewellery seller. It was to create elegant, affordable gifting solutions that make every gift feel special.

Launching the brand, however, proved far more challenging than expected.

For nearly two months, despite working every single day, sales barely moved.

The team continuously improved product listings, upgraded photography, refined packaging, optimised advertisements, analysed competitors, studied marketplace algorithms, and listened carefully to customer feedback.

Still, the results were disappointing.

The uncertainty became so intense that two of the company’s co-founders decided to leave the business.

For many startups, that would have been the end.

But Shashi and Ajay refused to give up.

Without knowing when success would arrive, they committed to improving something every single day. Whether it was better packaging, stronger branding, smarter advertising, or a deeper understanding of customer behaviour, they focused on continuous improvement instead of instant results.

Then everything changed.

In February 2026, Zevarna recorded monthly sales of ₹46,738. While the number may appear modest, it represented something far more valuable than revenue – it proved that customers were beginning to trust the brand.

That trust quickly turned into momentum.

Sales reached ₹2,47,874 in March 2026, ₹5,02,179 in April, and ₹9,22,934 in May 2026.

Within just a few months, Zevarna evolved from a struggling startup into a rapidly growing gifting brand, now progressing toward the milestone of ₹1 crore in monthly sales.

Growth has never been measured only by revenue.

Today, Zevarna has earned Amazon India’s Top Brand badge and maintains approximately 85% positive ratings from lots of customer reviews. The brand has also achieved Flipkart Gold Tier recognition, reflecting strong marketplace performance and consistent customer satisfaction.

To build stronger relationships with customers, the company has also launched its own direct-to-consumer (D2C) website (www.zevarna.com), offering a more personalised shopping experience while continuing to expand across India’s leading marketplaces.

Looking back, the founders believe every previous failure contributed to Zevarna’s success.

Today, the founders remain committed to the same mission that inspired the brand from the beginning – to make every gift feel special through thoughtful design, elegant presentation, and exceptional customer experience.

Their journey is a reminder that entrepreneurship is rarely about finding the perfect idea on the first attempt. More often, success belongs to those who keep learning, keep improving, and keep moving forward long after others have stopped.

Sometimes, success isn’t about having the perfect idea. It’s about refusing to give up until the right one finally works.
