From a Childhood Dream to a Multi-Million-Dollar Vision: How 19-Year-Old Durga Prasad Mishra Is Building Signed Glory

Every meaningful entrepreneurial journey begins with a reason. For Durga Prasad Mishra, that reason was shaped by a childhood filled with hard work, a deep passion for sports, and a strong desire to become independent.

Born and brought up in Jajpur, Odisha, Mishra grew up understanding the value of struggle and perseverance. From an early age, he wanted to build something of his own and become financially independent through his own efforts.

Today, at just 19 years old, he is pursuing his B.Tech in Computer Engineering at OUTR, Bhubaneswar, while simultaneously building what he hopes will become a multi-million-dollar sports memorabilia company and museum.

At the heart of that vision is Signed Glory—a sports memorabilia, autograph, trading-card, and collectibles venture that aims to preserve the history of sport while creating a new collecting culture in India.

What began with the simple intention of generating some pocket money has evolved into something far more ambitious.

The Childhood Passion That Started It All

Sports became an important part of Mishra’s life from a young age.

One of his strongest childhood memories was watching India win the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

For a young sports fan, witnessing the country lift the World Cup created a lasting emotional connection with cricket and the athletes who made those moments possible.

His admiration for Virat Kohli further strengthened that connection.

But Mishra’s fascination eventually went beyond watching matches.

He became increasingly interested in the athletes themselves, their careers, their achievements, and the physical objects connected to sporting history.

That interest would eventually lead him to ask a question that changed the direction of his life:

“Can I turn my passion for sports into a business?”

The Idea Was Born in 2022

The idea that would eventually become Signed Glory first began taking shape in 2022.

At that stage, it was still an idea—a vision of turning sports memorabilia into a serious business in India.

But Mishra understood that an idea alone was not enough.

He needed to understand the industry.

He needed connections.

He needed access to memorabilia.

And most importantly, he needed to learn how the world of sports collectibles actually worked.

For a young entrepreneur based in Odisha, this was not easy.

The sports memorabilia ecosystem was relatively limited around him, and many of the people he needed to reach were outside his immediate network.

So he began building that network himself.

Building Connections From Scratch

Mishra’s approach was simple: reach out, learn, help, and build relationships.

During his research, he came across a small sports collector in Bhubaneswar who became an important source of information.

That interaction introduced Mishra to names of journalists and people connected to the sporting world.

He began researching them.

Then he started reaching out.

He sent messages.

He sent direct messages on social media.

He made cold emails.

He approached people he had never met.

And whenever he found an opportunity to help someone within his growing network, he tried to contribute in whatever way he could.

Slowly, those cold connections began becoming genuine relationships.

What started as names on a list eventually became a network of people who could guide him, introduce him to others, and help him understand the sporting ecosystem.

For Mishra, networking was not simply about asking people for favors.

It was about building relationships and creating value first.

The First Autograph: Yuvraj Singh

In 2024, the idea finally began turning into reality.

Mishra learned that legendary Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh was going to attend a ceremony.

One of his acquaintances—someone he respectfully refers to as an uncle—was a sports journalist.

That connection gave Mishra the opportunity to attend the ceremony and obtain his first-ever sports autograph.

It was Yuvraj Singh.

For someone who had spent years watching sporting legends on television, holding his first signed piece was a defining moment.

It was more than the beginning of a collection.

It was the moment when the idea of Signed Glory started becoming real.

Yuvraj Singh’s autograph became both Mishra’s first autograph and his first major collectible.

And it gave him the confidence to pursue the idea much further.

From One Autograph to Hundreds

What happened next was a combination of persistence, networking, research, and opportunity.

Mishra continued building relationships across the sports ecosystem and gradually expanded his collection.

The result is a collection that today includes more than 200 autographs, alongside a substantial collection of sporting memorabilia.

Among the notable names represented in his collection are:

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Viv Richards, Wasim Akram, Yuvraj Singh, Neeraj Chopra, Ricky Ponting, and many others.

His collection also extends beyond cricket.

Mishra has accumulated more than 100 jerseys, including squad-signed jerseys and football memorabilia, along with various pieces of game-worn and player-used sporting gear.

He has also acquired officially signed cards from Pakistan and other international sources, including memorabilia sourced from the United States.

What began with one Yuvraj Singh autograph had developed into a serious collection spanning athletes, generations, sports, and countries.

The Moment the Museum Dream Took Shape

As Mishra’s collection grew, another realization began to take shape.

When he had accumulated around 20–30 significant pieces, he started thinking beyond simply collecting.

He was inspired by Rohan Patil of Pune, whose work as a sports memorabilia collector showed Mishra what was possible.

But Mishra also noticed something else.

He saw an opportunity that, in his view, remained largely unexplored:

There was no major sports memorabilia museum in India that matched the scale and vision he imagined.

That observation became a turning point.

The question changed from:

“How many memorabilia pieces can I collect?”

to:

“Why can’t I build a place where thousands of people can experience sporting history?”

That became one of the biggest motivations behind Signed Glory.

Building a Museum for Sporting History

Mishra’s ultimate vision is to create a sports memorabilia museum where fans can experience sporting history through authentic physical artifacts.

Imagine seeing the autograph of a legendary cricketer.

Standing beside a squad-signed jersey.

Viewing a game-worn football shirt.

Seeing rare trading cards.

Learning the stories behind iconic athletes.

For Mishra, a museum can transform memorabilia from private collectibles into shared cultural experiences.

His dream is to build such an institution in India and eventually make it a destination for sports fans, collectors, and enthusiasts from around the world.

He is currently working toward turning that vision into reality.

Signed Glory: More Than a Memorabilia Store

The long-term vision for Signed Glory goes beyond selling autographs.

Mishra wants to build an ecosystem around sports collecting.

The concept brings together:

Autographs + Trading Cards + Game-Worn Gear + Jerseys + Collectibles + E-Commerce + Authentication + Museum Experiences + Technology

The ambition is to create a brand that doesn’t simply sell memorabilia but builds a community around the preservation of sporting history.

For Mishra, every collectible has a story.

A signature represents an athlete.

A jersey represents an era.

A game-worn item represents a moment.

A trading card represents a chapter in a career.

Signed Glory aims to preserve those stories.

The Financial and Logistical Challenges

The journey has not been easy.

One of the biggest challenges has been the financial and logistical cost of collecting high-quality memorabilia.

Important sporting artifacts are not always available locally.

Sometimes acquiring a particular autograph requires travel.

Sometimes it requires building new relationships.

Sometimes opportunities involve expenses associated with access, sourcing, or connecting with people who can facilitate the acquisition.

For a young entrepreneur, those costs can be significant.

Yet Mishra continued to reinvest into his collection and vision.

Rather than viewing every challenge as a reason to stop, he treated them as part of the cost of building something that did not yet have an established ecosystem around it.

The Support System Behind the Dream

Although Signed Glory carries Mishra’s vision, he is quick to recognize the people who have helped him along the way.

His parents, Sushanta Kumar Mishra and Siddheswari Mishra, have been among his strongest supporters.

Their encouragement has allowed him to pursue his entrepreneurial ambitions while continuing his engineering education.

His family and friends have also played an important role.

Mishra particularly remembers receiving support from friends in his village, who helped him during different stages of his journey.

For a young entrepreneur attempting to build something unconventional, that support has been invaluable.

Behind the growing collection, the business experiments, and the museum dream is a support system that continues to encourage him to think bigger.

An Entrepreneur and a Computer Engineer

While building Signed Glory, Mishra is also pursuing his B.Tech in Computer Engineering at OUTR, Bhubaneswar.

This combination of entrepreneurship and technology is an important part of his long-term vision.

He believes that the future of business will increasingly depend on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, data, and automation.

Rather than treating these technologies as separate from his businesses, he is exploring how they can become part of the foundation.

The AI and Automation Vision

Mishra is currently working on a model exploring how AI, Machine Learning, and automation can be used across his businesses.

Potential applications include:

For Signed Glory, the long-term possibility is particularly interesting.

An AI-driven platform could potentially help collectors discover memorabilia based on their favorite athletes, teams, sports, eras, or collecting preferences.

The broader goal is to build businesses where technology handles repetitive processes while people focus on relationships, creativity, strategy, and building the brand.

Entrepreneurship Beyond Sports

Signed Glory is not Mishra’s only entrepreneurial experiment.

He has also explored beverage brands and dropshipping, gaining experience in consumer products, e-commerce, branding, marketing, distribution, and customer acquisition.

These ventures have given him an opportunity to understand different sides of business.

For Mishra, entrepreneurship is not simply about starting one company.

It is about constantly learning how businesses work.

Every experiment adds another skill.

Every mistake becomes another lesson.

Every connection can lead to another opportunity.

From Jajpur to a Global Vision

Mishra’s story is particularly significant because of where it began.

He was born and brought up in Jajpur, Odisha, far from many of the global centers where sports memorabilia is traditionally bought, sold, and collected.

Yet he refused to believe that geography should determine the size of his ambitions.

He built connections.

He reached out to people he didn’t know.

He researched.

He travelled when necessary.

He learned from collectors.

He developed relationships with journalists and people in the sporting ecosystem.

And gradually, he built access to a world that initially seemed distant.

His story represents a new generation of Indian entrepreneurs who can use technology and networking to pursue global opportunities regardless of where they begin.

A Dream Bigger Than a Collection

At 19, Mishra is still at the beginning of his journey.

But the ambition is already much bigger than the collection itself.

He doesn’t simply want to own hundreds or thousands of autographs.

He wants to build a company.

He wants to build a museum.

He wants to create a collecting culture.

He wants to preserve sporting history.

And eventually, he wants to use technology to transform how people discover, authenticate, collect, and experience memorabilia.

The more than 200 autographs and 100+ jerseys are therefore not the destination.

They are the foundation.

The Beginning of Signed Glory

Durga Prasad Mishra’s story is ultimately about what happens when passion meets persistence.

A child from Jajpur who grew up watching cricket and dreaming of independence watched India win the 2011 World Cup and developed a deep admiration for the athletes who created those moments.

In 2022, an idea began forming.

In 2024, he obtained his first autograph—Yuvraj Singh’s.

From there, he began building connections from scratch, reaching out to journalists, collectors, and people within the sporting ecosystem.

One autograph became dozens.

Dozens became more than 200.

The collection expanded into jerseys, signed cards, game-worn gear, and international memorabilia.

And eventually, the collector began thinking like an entrepreneur.

Why simply collect sporting history when you can build a place where an entire country can experience it?

That question became the foundation of the Signed Glory museum vision.

Today, Mishra is simultaneously an entrepreneur, collector, and Computer Engineering student at OUTR, while exploring the possibilities of AI, Machine Learning, and automation for the future of his businesses.

The journey that began with a desire to make some pocket money has evolved into a dream of building a multi-million-dollar sports memorabilia company and museum.

And perhaps the most important part of the story is that the dream is still in its early stages.

The first autograph was Yuvraj Singh.
The first collection was small.
The first idea began in 2022.
The implementation began in 2024.
But the vision is much bigger.

The ultimate goal is to build Signed Glory into a global sports memorabilia brand and a museum that preserves the memories, achievements, and stories of sporting legends for generations to come.

For Durga Prasad Mishra, the collection is not the end of the journey.

It is where the journey begins.
