Bringing the Global Indie Together:

Lazie Indie Magazine Marks 6 Years, 72 Editions, and Global Award Recognitions

Bangalore India – Lazie Indie Magazine (LIM), the global publication that transformed a simple human response to the 2020 lockdowns into a worldwide movement for independent musicians, is proud to celebrate six years of continuous operation and the release of its 72nd monthly edition. This milestone is marked by an extraordinary run of institutional validations, including being crowned “Media Company of the Year” at the 2024 Josie Music Awards held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.

Since its inception on a balcony in May 2020, the magazine has maintained a rigorous standard of excellence, resulting in consecutive Josie Music Award nominations for 2023, 2024, and 2025. Furthermore, It has also been nominated as finalist for the Wavy Awards in 2024 for Service provider of the year, solidifying its position as a premier global authority in independent music journalism.

“Six years in the independent space is an eternity, and our streak of nominations validates that intentional storytelling is the most powerful way to build a legacy,” says Founding Editor Jay Pillai. “We ignored the algorithm to follow a direction of respect, bridging the gap between grassroots studios in Ghana and the world-class facilities of Nashville. Our journey through the last seven editions—spanning the USA, India, East Asia, Ghana, Armenia, Australia, and China—is a testament to our core message: music knows no borders and that has been natural to Lazie Indie Magazine all through our existence. We provide coverage without bias of any kind, ensuring that the honesty of the story is the only metric that matters.”
