In an era where digital entrepreneurship is reshaping how businesses grow, young innovators are emerging from unexpected places. One such story is that of Numair Riyaz, a young entrepreneur from Awantipora, Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, who started building his own marketing agency at just 15 years old. Today, at 18, Numair is the founder of Upbringing Media Agency, working with professionals and businesses to help them attract clients through content and personal branding.
His journey reflects a new generation of entrepreneurs in Kashmir—young individuals who are leveraging the internet to create opportunities beyond geographical boundaries.
Early Curiosity and the Entrepreneurial Spark
Long before launching his agency, Numair had already begun experimenting with the online world. As a student, he tried several online business ideas, constantly exploring ways to build something of his own. While many of these attempts did not immediately succeed, they helped him understand how digital businesses function and how creators and entrepreneurs use the internet to grow.
During this period, Numair noticed a recurring challenge among many professionals, particularly doctors and business owners. Despite being experts in their fields, many struggled to present themselves effectively online. They had knowledge and credibility but lacked a strong digital presence that could attract modern clients.
At the same time, Numair had developed a strong interest in content creation and digital branding. Observing how creators and entrepreneurs were using content to build authority, he realized that the same strategy could help professionals grow their businesses without relying heavily on paid advertisements.
That realization eventually led him to build something of his own.
Launching an Agency at 15
In July 2023, while still in school, Numair founded Upbringing Media Agency. Starting an agency at such a young age was far from easy. Potential clients often questioned whether someone so young could handle professional work, and building a digital business from Kashmir also meant dealing with practical challenges such as inconsistent internet connectivity.
With no large budget or established network, Numair began by learning everything he could about content strategy, branding, and client acquisition. Much of his knowledge came from self-study, experimentation, and observing how successful digital entrepreneurs operated.
His first major breakthrough came through direct outreach, where he approached potential clients and explained how content-driven branding could help them attract more customers. Eventually, he secured his first client—a business owner—and earned ₹10,000, marking the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey.
A Different Approach to Marketing
Unlike traditional agencies that rely primarily on paid advertising, Upbringing Media Agency focuses on helping clients generate inbound leads through content and personal branding.
The agency works mainly with doctors and business owners, helping them position themselves as authorities in their fields. Through strategic content and digital storytelling, clients are able to build trust and attract potential customers organically rather than constantly chasing leads.
This approach reflects Numair’s belief that modern marketing is shifting away from interruption-based advertising toward authority-driven visibility. By building a strong online presence, professionals can turn their expertise into influence and long-term credibility.
Over time, the agency has grown to work with multiple clients on recurring monthly engagements, creating a sustainable business model despite being founded by someone still in his teens.
Balancing Education and Entrepreneurship
One of the most unique aspects of Numair’s journey is that he built his agency while continuing his education. Currently studying in 12th grade, he has managed to balance the demands of running a business with academic responsibilities.
Like many entrepreneurs, his path has not been completely linear. At one point, he took a year-long academic drop, a decision that allowed him to focus on developing skills and building his business foundation.
During this period, he continued refining his understanding of content marketing, personal branding, and digital client acquisition systems. While he founded the agency independently, he now works with an operations team that helps manage the growing workflow of client projects.
Building from Kashmir to the World
Operating from Awantipora in Pulwama district, Numair represents a new wave of young entrepreneurs emerging from Kashmir. Instead of viewing location as a limitation, he sees it as proof that digital entrepreneurship can start anywhere with the right mindset and access to the internet.
His vision for Upbringing Media Agency is ambitious. He aims to grow the company into the largest personal branding agency in Kashmir while gradually expanding its reach across India and eventually the global market.
By helping professionals transform their expertise into influence through strategic content, Numair hopes to position his agency as a global personal branding and PR powerhouse in the coming years.
A Founder’s Philosophy
Although his journey is still in its early stages, Numair Riyaz’s story highlights the power of curiosity, persistence, and self-learning in the digital age. For young people in Kashmir and beyond, it shows that entrepreneurship no longer requires waiting for the “right time” or location.
Sometimes, it simply begins with the courage to start.
As Numair puts it:
“In the digital era, attention builds authority, and authority builds empires.”
