THE FILM

Cinema can blur the boundary between what is real and what exists within the human mind. LUCID is conceived as a visual experiment that explores that space through atmosphere, performance, image, sound and visual effects. Rather than relying only on dialogue, the film uses the language of cinema itself to make the audience question what they see and feel.

Produced by iLight Pictures, LUCID brings together a compact creative team with a shared focus on visual and sonic storytelling. Every department contributes to a single cinematic identity, from the screenplay and cinematography to editing, VFX, music and sound design.

DIRECTOR — BHARATH GOWDA

At the centre of LUCID is director Bharath Gowda, whose filmmaking journey comes from years of professional experience in the Visual Effects industry. His career has included work on Hollywood and international film productions, giving him a strong understanding of visual storytelling, compositing, post-production and the technical processes behind high-end cinema.

That background directly influences the visual approach of LUCID. Bharath brings the eye of a VFX artist into the director’s chair, imagining shots not only as they are captured on set but also as they will ultimately exist in their finished form. For the film, VFX is treated as part of the storytelling process rather than simply an effect added at the end.

After spending years in the Visual Effects industry and working on Hollywood and international productions, I wanted to bring everything I had learned into my own filmmaking. LUCID is an opportunity to combine my experience in VFX with storytelling, cinematography and sound to create something visually immersive and emotionally personal.

WRITING — ABHI GOWDA

The foundation of LUCID is the writing by Abhi Gowda. The screenplay establishes the emotional and narrative framework while leaving room for visual interpretation. The writing allows the audience to experience the story through perception, atmosphere and discovery. CINEMATOGRAPHY — AJAY

CINEMATOGRAPHY — AJAY

The visual world of LUCID is shaped by cinematographer Ajay. Framing, lighting, composition and camera movement work together to establish the film’s mood and psychological space. The cinematography provides the visual foundation on which editing and VFX can build.

VISUAL EFFECTS — MANOJAVAH STUDIOS

Manojavah Studios handles the film’s visual effects, integrating digital work into the photographed world while maintaining cinematic consistency. The objective is to make VFX serve the story and expand the possibilities of the film’s visual language without taking the audience out of the experience.

EDITING — DHARMA

Dharma shapes the rhythm and structure of LUCID in the edit. The timing of each cut and the duration of each moment become important tools in a film where perception and atmosphere matter. The edit brings performance, cinematography, VFX and sound together into one continuous experience.

MUSIC & SOUND DESIGN — AERON

AERON creates both the music and sound design for LUCID. Music adds an emotional layer to the film, while sound design builds the physical and psychological environment around the characters. Together, they give the film a sonic identity that extends beyond what is visible on screen.

PRODUCTION — ILIGHT PICTURES

iLight Pictures leads the production of LUCID, bringing together the creative and technical departments required to take the project from concept through production and post-production. The company also serves as Executive Producer, overseeing the broader production process and supporting the film’s creative vision.

THE CAST — HARSHIT RAJ

Harshit Raj leads the cast of LUCID. His performance provides the human centre of the film, giving the audience an emotional connection to the story as the world around the character begins to challenge the boundary between reality and perception.

What defines LUCID is the collaboration between its departments. The writer creates the foundation; the director defines the vision; cinematography transforms it into images; the performance gives it a human connection; editing discovers its rhythm; VFX expands its visual possibilities; and music and sound complete the emotional world.

LUCID represents a new creative direction for iLight Studios — an experiment in combining filmmaking and visual effects to create an immersive cinematic experience. For Bharath Gowda, it is also a continuation of a professional journey that began in VFX and now expands into directing and storytelling. RELEASING SUMMER 2027
