Mindsport Astra: How Aniruddha Joshi is helping professionals build the mental strength to handle Work and Life

Never before have professionals had to deal with so many pressures at the same time. Demanding work, career uncertainty, difficult decisions, changing expectations and responsibilities outside work are making it increasingly difficult to switch off and stay balanced.

For more than two decades, Aniruddha Joshi worked across global corporate organisations including JPMorgan Chase, Credit Suisse, UBS, Infosys, Cognizant, and Capgemini. His career involved project and programme management, stakeholder management, internal audit, and working with senior teams in demanding professional environments.

Over those years, he observed a recurring pattern.

Many of his colleagues were highly qualified, experienced and extremely capable. The difficult moments came when pressure accumulated for weeks or months. A difficult manager, demanding client, uncertainty, a critical business decision, team conflict, personal responsibilities and the constant expectation to perform could gradually affect the way a person thought, communicated and made decisions.

That observation became increasingly important to him.

How Mindsport Astra Came About

Aniruddha’s 1st venture KRIYA Whiz was started in 2019 with the objective of helping students develop the skills required for the 21st century. Over time, other areas began to emerge within the organisation, particularly leadership coaching, corporate training and performance coaching.

As these areas grew, it became clear that corporate trainings required a dedicated identity and a more focused methodology. Rather than stretching one venture across very different domains, Aniruddha chose to create a separate space for this work.

That led to the creation of Mindsport Astra.

As the Founder and Lead Consultant of Mindsport Astra, Aniruddha works on a simple premise: the mind requires training just as professional skills do.

The Real Difference

Consider a senior professional who has spent fifteen years building a successful career. He knows his industry, understands his numbers and has handled difficult projects before. Yet when an unexpected crisis reaches his desk, he finds himself checking messages repeatedly, imagining everything that could go wrong, becoming impatient with his team and carrying the problem home every evening.

This is where mental training becomes relevant.

One such case encountered in this area of work involved a senior professional, referred to here as Rahul, whose name has been changed for confidentiality. Rahul was successful by every conventional measure. He had a senior position, a good income and considerable professional experience. Yet he had reached a point where Sunday evenings created anxiety about the coming week. He was increasingly short tempered at home, avoided difficult conversations at work and felt that his career had become a cycle of targets, meetings and problems.

His first instinct was to look for a new job.

The deeper work revealed that Rahul did not necessarily want to leave his profession. He wanted to regain a sense of control over how he operated within it.

The work focused on identifying his pressure triggers, improving his response to difficult stakeholders, establishing clearer boundaries, and reconnecting his work with the aspects of his profession that he actually valued.

The significant change was not that his workplace suddenly became easier. He became better equipped to navigate it.

Bringing Sports Psychology into Professional Life

Apart from the traditional Corporate Training aspects, Mindsport Astra draws significantly from sports psychology.

An athlete preparing for an important competition cannot depend only on physical ability. At the moment of pressure, attention can narrow, breathing can change, self doubt can appear and a single mistake can affect the next decision. Mental preparation helps the athlete return attention to the task, regulate arousal, recover from errors and remain engaged with the present moment.

Professional environments create their own versions of these situations.

A CXO may have to make a decision when information is incomplete. A founder may have to communicate difficult news to a team. A senior executive may have to enter a high stakes meeting after a difficult morning. A professional may have to present to senior leadership despite intense fear of judgement.

Mindsport Astra brings relevant principles from sports psychology into these situations.

The work involves group programmes as well as customised one to one performance sessions for CXO leaders, founders, senior executives, professionals and competitive athletes.

The Vision Ahead

The long term vision of Mindsport Astra extends beyond corporate training. The aim is to build a broader mental performance ecosystem serving corporate leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, athletes, and organisations.

India is producing exceptional talent across business, technology, science, entrepreneurship and sport. The next challenge is ensuring that this talent can perform sustainably.

Its larger purpose is simple: help people become better equipped to handle pressure without losing clarity, health, relationships or their sense of direction.

The ability to remain composed, purposeful and clear when circumstances become difficult is one of the most valuable skills a professional can develop.
