In a world where most young graduates choose the safety of joining established family businesses, Bharat Jain made a different decision. He stepped away from his father’s cement unit immediately after completing his graduation in 1989 because he felt a strong desire to create something of his own. This instinctive pull toward entrepreneurship set the foundation of a long and meaningful journey.
At the age of 19, Bharat entered the plywood business with his cousins. The experience helped him understand the basics of trade, customer needs, and business management. However, circumstances changed, and he eventually had to step away from the venture and relocate to Delhi. The shift opened a new door when he received an opportunity to work in the computer consumables and hardware sector through a friend’s acquaintance. Without hesitation, he embraced the unfamiliar industry and learned everything from scratch.
After gaining experience, Bharat returned to Jaipur, the city where he had completed his studies. Motivated to start a new venture, he attempted to set up his own business, but the outcome was not what he had hoped for. At 22, he found himself questioning his earlier decisions and wondering whether joining his father’s business might have been a safer path.
This phase of reflection became a turning point. In 1994, Bharat decided to return to the plywood industry with renewed focus and maturity. The decision proved to be a defining moment. His business in Jaipur grew steadily, eventually establishing him as a respected wholesaler in the plywood market.
In 2002, Bharat moved to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and continued working in the plywood sector. Over the years, he expanded his expertise and transitioned from selling products to offering guidance, insights, and complete interior solutions. Today, with 34 years of experience, he is known for his practical advice, industry knowledge, and customer-focused approach.
Clients often seek his input for their interior projects. Bharat believes in understanding their needs, preferences, and budgets before offering suggestions. His aim is to help them make informed decisions instead of pushing products or services. He considers it a responsibility to ensure people invest wisely and avoid unnecessary expenses. This consultative style has earned him deep trust and long-term relationships.
His commitment to education and awareness inspired him to write a book titled “Design Without Stress”, available on Amazon. The book simplifies interior design concepts and explains the best products for various surfaces. It covers topics ranging from home renovation to exterior elevation and serves as a guide for anyone who wants to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing space without confusion. The book has received positive feedback, reinforcing Bharat’s belief that knowledge should be shared freely.
In recent years, Bharat has ventured into a new concept: a 99 Store model aimed at offering a wide selection of products at affordable prices. His vision is to build a chain through franchising and create a strong pan-India presence. With his experience and understanding of market needs, he is confident that this model has significant potential.
Looking back, Bharat describes his journey as a complete rollercoaster. He has moved from plywood to computers, returned to plywood, shifted cities, reinvented his business, written a book, and stepped into a new retail model. Each chapter brought its own challenges and lessons. Today, he feels content with how far he has come and remains grateful for the perseverance that carried him forward.
For Bharat Jain, entrepreneurship is not only about earning a living. It is about building something meaningful, learning constantly, adapting to change, and leaving a positive impact. As he continues to explore new horizons, his story stands as a testament to resilience, clarity, and the courage to take the road less travelled.
