Dristadyumna Das from Iskcon Leading a Spiritual Movement Among Youth Through Bhagavad Gita
Jammu: At a time when India is witnessing a worrying rise in drug abuse, anxiety, depression, and suicidal tendencies among young people, ISKCON Jammu preacher Dristadyumna Das has been actively working to address these challenges through the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita.
For the past several years, Dristadyumna Das has been conducting motivational and value-based sessions in schools and educational institutions, highlighting how the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita can empower students to face life’s challenges with clarity, confidence, and purpose. According to him, many young people turn toward harmful habits such as substance abuse due to their inability to effectively cope with stress, failures, anxiety, and emotional struggles.
Speaking during one of his recent school sessions, he emphasized that the Bhagavad Gita provides practical solutions for managing the mind, overcoming depression, controlling emotions, and developing resilience—teachings that are as relevant today as they were thousands of years ago.
Through these educational initiatives, Dristadyumna Das has distributed more than 3,000 copies of the Bhagavad Gita free of cost among students from various schools across Jammu and surrounding regions. Several reputed educational institutions have collaborated in this mission, including KC International School, Maharaj Hari Singh School, Jammu Sanskriti School and many others.
Together with his wife – Sarvamangala Devi Dasi & Dristadyumna Das has dedicated his life to helping society, especially the youth, through spiritual education and character development based on Vedic wisdom. Their efforts focus on promoting positive values, moral integrity, self-discipline, and spiritual awareness among students and young professionals.
Over the years, Dristadyumna Das has conducted more than 1,100 online and offline sessions on the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, reaching thousands of participants from different backgrounds. As an active volunteer of “Iskcon for Youth”, he also engages with students through youth-focused spiritual programs and counseling initiatives.
To further support young people, “ISKCON for Youth” has launched free Bhagavad Gita courses accessible through its official website and mobile applications. Students can enroll in these courses through , while dedicated applications are also available for both Android and iOS users.
Dristadyumna Das stated that merely distributing books is not enough; students should also receive proper guidance to understand and apply the teachings in their daily lives. He assured that online platforms, mentoring programs, and study groups are being developed to help students systematically study and practice the principles of the Bhagavad Gita.
The initiatives undertaken by ISKCON Jammu have been widely appreciated by educators, parents, and students alike. Through spiritual education, counseling, value-based seminars, and Bhagavad Gita distribution, the organization continues its mission of helping youth stay away from drug abuse, depression, anxiety, and other social challenges while leading a purposeful and fulfilling life.
As concerns regarding youth mental health continue to grow across the nation, the efforts of Dristadyumna Das and the ISKCON Jammu team demonstrate how spiritual wisdom and practical guidance can play a significant role in building a healthier and more responsible generation.
Furthermore, Dristadyumna Das is developing a new online platform, Krishna’s Chariot (www.krishnaschariot.com), through which people will be able to book free kirtans, request free seminars, and seek answers to their spiritual questions. The platform aims to make spiritual guidance more accessible to society, especially the youth.
